Wow!!! Cool emulator....

Ah, I think I figured out the image part.

Kenbak1_base.jpg has the background of the machine, and this is the part that could have the extruded handles added, but the existing jpg doesn't have...

Wow!!! Cool emulator....

I'm amazed. After trying the very clever and fun 8088 assembly language emulator, I too had thought it would be cool to have a Java web-based emulator with great graphics, which would be machine...

GR104C Manual? You gotta be kidding...

Okay, now all of us vintage electronics nuts are looking pretty sane. You're actually trying to build a GR104C Healthkit Television? I can't even imagine why someone would do that.

But motives...

Yes, I'm always surprised when a DOS-like program works in the command window of a late product like Vista, but yours does. It looks nice, nice smooth display, quite usable for a text only...

Very cool....

Hey!

Great little emulator! Well done!

I like the memory dump in Octal. Very nice.

I was even more pleasantly surprised that the "4" below the number 2 light is offset to the left. ...

I'd like them too, or at least copies of the data...

Do binary images exist for any programs? I've seen a few original Altair tapes go for auction, but no web site I've seen has the actual binary images. If I could see the data, I have a whole ton of...

Very interesting. I just ordered one too.

I've been thinking of buying an "itouch" to surf the internet (my whole city is going wireless over the next 12 months) the real keyboard (or "kinda...

Wow, I wondered who bought that kit!!! I thought it was that deep-pocket collector in Florida who's assembling a museum.

Yes, many would consider the kit ruined by assembly. On the other-hand,...

Here's a picture of the eBay $9 power supply (plus around $7 for shipping) in the approximate place (above the original.)

It's bigger than yours, but smaller than the original version. I think...

Great work!

I like that little power supply. A similar part number (Red Rocket Power supply bought out the company) is available from Arrow at www.arrownac.com. The part number is...

more comments (ttl, etc.)

I'll attach a picture of the inside, but not much to show. This looks just like your machine. I tried to neaten up the wiring by twisting the wires a bit, but it didn't do much. Maybe a nice braid...

Oh, I talked too soon (Tie inputs high through resistors)

I guess I talked too soon, and found the answer to why John Blankenbaker tied the inputs to his TTL chips through a resistor to the +5 volt supply. I appreciate that nobody has yet slammed me. I...

Ooops, forgot the picture.

No, not me. My little girl! She's actually less interested in vintage computers than you'd think by the photo.

Another Finished Kenbak-1, how many are functioning now?

Hello:

A week ago, I finished my Kenbak-1 Series 2, and am quite happy with it! I haven't had a chance to exhaustively check all instructions, like "set bit" and "bit test and jump" but the jump...

I'm very intrigued on your calculation of e. Do you plan on sharing the program with us? I suppose you just need a division routine and an addition routine, but how exactly you do this isn't clear...

That modification on Eric Klein's machine is interesting because it is the first (and only?) modification known on a Kenbak-1. Common sense suggests that this should be an input or output, the only...

IC-99 Mystery (modification)

I see talk about IC-99 (the un-used chip) getting hot. There is a bit of a mystery regarding this, but I really think the original machines *DID NOT* have a chip in this place.

I think the...

Grant:

Like the idea of the Digital to Analog Converter. The main problems with the Kenbak is lack of input and output. The DAC going to a Volt-Freq. Converter would allow a pretty interesting...

Hi Everyone...

It's been a while since the anouncement of the Kenbak kit.

June 12th was the anouncement that the kit was finished and would ship in a couple weeks.

I think Grant promised to tune any card for anyone, as long as postage was paid both...
