case only

Hi All;
Randy, Just wondering, Why you would want just the enclosure ???? Do you already have the Boards from Someplace else ????? I am almost Sure that you Would not get Boards Only from Grant.... He has said that HE is putting out One last bunch of Machines, But, I have not seen any inclinking from Him since last spring/summer.... So there MAY not be any more kits from Grant or at least for awhile.... THANK YOU Marty

reason

hi marty,

i can tell you the reason. since i am familiar with ATmega chips i "might be" able to build the electronics with such microchips. i know it is a cheap and dirty way to do it and by far not a altair8800 but technically possible to built the whole elctronics with one or two chips such as an ATmega 128 or ATmega 32.

of course i would prefer building one with original components, no queston about that but i am loosing confident that i EVER will be able to find all the parts for a kit. as you said.... grant is not interested in doing more kit's which i understand. if it is to expensive and the demand is little, why should he do that? another thing is, i am without work at the moment (going thru chemotheraphy battling cancer) so i am surerly unable to purchase a full kit. but parts by parts might be possible. and you already told me you have sold everything....

cheers
randy

Hi Randy,

Just so you know, I already have done a replica with the ATMEGA chip. I call it the Altair 8800micro. You can see it here:

I made some small suttle differences but overall, it is a nice low cost kit.
