Altair speaks Basic!
 

Well, I got my 2SIO card working great last night and now thanks to Geoff Harrisons boot loader instructions, we are running 4K Basic! Yay :)

With 1K board and 4K board, I get 1751 bytes to play with. Now I'll have to get more memory! :p

Thanks Grant for the kit and Geoff for the pointers. Now on to more 'play' with the Altair.

Where did you get your instructions for the 2SIO card? I'll be ready to tackle mine soon, and I know Grant isn't finished yet with his own instructions (which will be fantastic, if the 8800 kit instructions are any indicator!). I've found various MITS manuals online, e.g. for the 4MCS card and the PIO, but not the SIO.
