I just bought an expensive toy. From now on I am going to scan all boards at 3200dpi 48bit color to preserve the board data. This will be like the tradition of scanning manuals, but on steroids. :) I'm not sure how to share the raw scans since they are 3GB for each side of an S-100 card. Probably you'd have to mail me an external hard drive.
I have quite a few bare boards available to scan, but most of them have been soldered on. I may try asking Mardy if he would be willing to loan me some of his bare boards for scanning. :) I'm excited about the possibility of preserving this data!
How many of you would be interested in downloading or in some way getting PCB scans?
The specs of a 3200dpi 24bit color jpeg at 7 of 12 quality image of a S-100 PCB are:
~32938x18045 pixels
-45MB
But I'm having trouble finding programs that can handle a 32,000+ pixel wide jpeg...
Here are some samples of a 3200dpi 24bit 7 of 12 jpeg...
Most browsers "shrink" the image to fit the window. Make sure you zoom in to view them at 100%!
Here is a sample of the bubbly silkscreen.

These pads are .1" apart...

Flux left on the board. Ugly!
