The front panel of the Kenbak-1 is made of brushed aluminum, and one thing I have discovered in the few days that I've had it is that it shows fingerprints. A lot. Maybe I just have greasy hands, but in no time at all my front panel was covered with ugly finger and palm prints. Fortunately, it's easy to solve that problem:

Remove any switches and lights (obviously :) )
Wash the front panel in a mild detergent. Don't use a scouring pad and don't use any kind of solvent, otherwise you run the risk of removing the lettering
Dry thoroughly. Handle the panel by the edges or use gloves. Don't touch the front with your bare hands.
Apply a couple of coats of clear lacquer. I used Minwax clear satin aerosol lacquer.

It's easy to do and I think it's well worthwhile. My panel looks great now no matter how much I handle it.
